Rob had troble with some of the early springs( mostly on Eclipse's) So rob had custom spring retainers made....The springs still broke on the Eclipse's. He found out the trouble was in the springs. You had an adjustment problem partly due to the fact the clutch needed a different slave to release it. You can see how much hotter the flywheel side runs with an aluminum flywheel with that thin steel insert. The opposite is the normal case with a stock flywheel...The larger mass takes away more heat so it wears less. Normaly the pressure plate side wears first. If you slipped your new clutch the way your last one slipped from being out of adjustment, The carbon steel insert would still have the same results.
